Aerel's Landing refers to the arrival of Aerel the Gryphon in the Summerset Archipelago at the start of his Invasion in 1E 366.
History[]
Aerel Arana, grandson of the deposed King Anumaril Arana of Abagarlas, sailed from the Stepstone Isles with a host said to have numbered between some hundreds and three thousand men. They arrived at the undefended northeastern shores of Calambar on Auridon with the intention of conquering the archipelago.
Aerel ordered the construction of the Gryphonhold on the highest of the hills at his landing site, and Alyssare and Rhaethen were sent to Roseport and Starhelm, respectively. The would-be king was then victorious in Aerel's First Blood. After securing the lands surrounding the place of his landing, Aerel was crowned at the Gryphonhold as "Aerel, the First of His Name, King of All the Isles". The new king then departed the Gryphonhold to take the fight to Sandur III Rilis in the north of Auridon while his younger sister Rhaethen and his son Daethen remained behind to secure their rear from the many southern lords of Sandur's kingdom.
Aerel's Invasion lasted for more than two years and ended with Aerel I being anointed king by both the High Aldarch and the Order of the Sapiarchs in Eldarhall. All five of the feuding kingdoms were consolidated under his rule, re-established as the Summerset Isles.
