The Aerie, also referred to as the Cloudrest Aerie, is the the ancient castle and seat of House Heleyn, one of the oldest lines of Aldmeri nobility, above the city of Cloudrest within the Vale of Eton Nir. It is situated on the mountain of Eton Nir, several thousand feet above the valley below, where Cloudrest is located. Though a smaller castle than the seats of the other Great Houses, the Aerie is considered impregnable to attack. During the winter months, the Heleyns descend from their castle to their residence in the city proper, to take refuge from the cold.
Despite its remote location far above the city, most consider the castle to be a part of Cloudrest.
