Alinor, known as the Summerset Isles before being renamed in 4E 22, is a realm located on the Summerset Archipelago, ruled by the king of Alinor, the monarch who sits upon the Marble Throne in the capital city, also called Alinor, the kingdom's namesake. Alinor leads the greater political entity known as the Aldmeri Dominion.

Alinor is sometimes also referred to as the Five Kingdoms, particularly by mummers, poets, and anyone who is placing emphasis upon the several constituent regions of the realm, five of which were independent kingdoms at the time of Aerel's Invasion in 1E 366.

The Summerset Archipelago was ruled by two monarchs at the time of Aerel's Invasion in 1E 365:

House Arana Coreriil III Arana, King of Summer.

House Rilis Sandur III Rilis, King of Auridon.

Aerel and his sisters conquered both kingdoms, consolidating them under the rule of House Arana and the Marble Throne.

Regions and Territory[]

Alinor is divided into nine administrative regions or provinces, excluding territories on mainland Tamriel: the Crownlands, the Summerlands, the Vale of Eton Nir, Elorne, the Norlands, the March, Calambar, Iluvamir, and the Vafe.

Slavery[]

The Altmer of Alinor maintain a restricted form of slavery. ManMer, and Beastfolk are strictly prohibited from being enslaved, but the native goblins are not, and are treated as any other slave on Tamriel. The acquisition of goblin slaves is done primarily through allowing existing slaves to mate, and not through actively capturing wild goblins.

Altmeri slavery is seen as relatively humane, even by mainland nations, as goblins are not considered overly sentient creatures and thus not capable of understanding their enslaved condition. It is said by Sapiarch X that the goblins of the archipelago genuinely enjoy their position, as it allows for free food and shelter and gives them something to do.
