Arlen was the first Grandsapiarch to serve King Daethen I Arana. Despite his consistently wise counsel to both Daethen and his father, Arlen was tortured to death by the command of Daethen himself after having compared the king to his brother Viseriel.
Character[]
Arlen was by all accounts a wise man, having served both Daethen and Aerel the Gryphon as Grandsapiarch, and doing his utmost to check King Daethen's cruel impulses.
History[]
Arlen was a distinguished sapiarch of the College, and was sent to serve the newly appointed Prince of Gryphonrock, Daethen Arana. It was believed by many that after the Grandsapiarch at the time died, it would be Arlen who would be chosen to succeed him, and would thus remain at Prince Daethen's side throughout his adulthood.
Sometime during Daethen's tenure as the Prince of Gryphonrock, Arlen made the mistake of comparing Daethen to his brother Viseriel, who was well loved by many. In a burst of rage Daethen had Arlen taken to the dungeons where he was later tortured to death. His bones were sent back to the College with an accompanying letter requesting a new sapirch that knew the difference between insolence and counsel.
