The Ayleid Empire was a realm located in central Tamriel, ruled by the High King of the Ayleids, the monarch that sat upon the throne of the capital city of Admerisel. The Empire fell into ruin when it was brought down by a slave rebellion in 1E 243.
At its prime, the Ayleid Empire encompassed most of central Tamriel and reached as far as the Summerset Archipelago in the Abecean Sea to the west, and the borders of Morrowind and Black Marsh to the east.

Culture[]
Ayleids were known for having silver hair, blue eyes, and deep olive skin, characteristics not common among other peoples of the world. This could vary from white to silver-gold to blond hair, from sky blue to deep blue to pale blue eyes, and from dark to pale olive skin. The most noble Ayleids were considered strikingly, some say inhumanly, beautiful. The classical Ayleid features are not always present in all Ayleids, some of whom might have green eyes, or darker hair.
The Ayleid nobility valued purity of blood, therefore the practice of incest was common in the Empire, as the Ayleids would customarily wed brother to sister, cousin to cousin, uncle to niece, etc. These practices were not limited to the Empire; on the Summerset Archipelago the Aranas continued to practice incestuous marriage to keep their Ayleid bloodline pure. The extent to which Ayleid nobility practiced incest varied in degree, as some families valued purer bloodlines than others.
Language[]
The language Ayleids spoke was Ayleidoon.

Quotes[]
The proudest realm in all the world was gone in a year, its fabled empire vanished in an instant, its people scorned and blighted. An empire built on blood and fire. The Ayleids reaped the seed they had sown.
—X about the ancient empire
They were a bitterly divided people, with many warlords vying against each other for power. Their ultimate demise was brought by their own civil strife at least as much as by the rebellion of their human slaves.
—Herminia Cinna about the Ayleids
