History[]
Death[]
In 1E 427, Castien fell deathly sick. He began losing weight at a rapid pace, and had frequent night sweats. The severity of his weakness and coughing grew until he was bedridden, and beyond the help of his sapiarch. He died in 1E 428, his sapiarch believing consumption to be the cause. His daughter, Erielle Liaren, commented at the time that death was a relief for him, as by that point he had been in constant pain, and regularly coughed up blood.
With his death, his son Artos Liaren succeeded him as Lord of Shimmerene. Artos was a pious and ambitious man who remembered fondly the days when his family were kings. He later played an important role in the Church Uprising during the reign of King Daethen I Arana.
