Worm Cult Warden
Cornexius
Worm Cult
Title Warden
Allegiance Order of the Black Worm
Race Imperial
Born In the Second Era
Died In 2E 582

Cornexius was a member of the Worm Cult during the Planemeld of the Second Era. He served as a prison warden in the Castle of the Worm, the Cult's old headquarters in Coldharbour. There he became infamous as a cruel overseer of the soul shriven slaves, torturing them into compliance when any attempted to resist their servitude.

Appearance and Character[]

Cornexius was an Imperial, and bore close-cut black hair with pale blue eyes and light skin. He sported a spotty black beard that covered his chin and the corners of his jaw. He was muscular in frame.

As a warden of the soul shriven slaves in the Castle of the Worm, Cornexius became infamous for his cruelty. He was not above threatening, beating, and torturing those who were enslaved, wearing down their wills until nothing was left but soulless husks.

Despite being a member of the Worm Cult, Cornexius preferred to use a sword and shield in his every-day duties. This may give some indication as to what his life was prior to joining the Cult.

History[]

Nothing for certain is known of Cornexius' past prior to serving the Worm Cult. Given his Imperial heritage and proclivity to use an imperial-forged sword and shield, he may have been a soldier or officer of the Empire of Cyrodiil. It is therefore likely that he joined the Cult after they were given an imperial charter. Following the Cult's establishment as the central organisation of magical learning in the Empire, many joined their ranks with hopes of career advancement, even those not particularly interested in necromancy per se.

What is known of Cornexius for sure is that he was eventually assigned as a guard warden within the lower villages of the Castle of the Worm within Coldharbour. There he oversaw the soul shriven slaves, who were forced to work or act as test subjects for the Cult's experiments. Sometimes slaves showed signs of free will, and Cornexius delighted in beating and torturing them into submission once more. Their soulless nature gradually consumed them, and together with Cornexius' beatings their free will was eradicated, leaving nothing behind but a wandering obedient husk.

Cornexius was eventually slain by Lyris Titanborn in 2E 582 as she snuck into the Castle of the Worm to rescue Abnur Tharn from Mannimarco's servitude. He was in the process of interrogating the soul shriven Cadwell, who had smuggled himself into the lower villages of the Castle and was considered an intruder by the guards.

Quotes by Cornexius[]
