Cyrodiil, also called Cyrod[N 1] before its renaming under the Reman Empire, is one of the nine regions of Tamriel, the largest of the known continents of Nirn. All the area of Cyrodiil constitutes the lands of the reigning monarch of the Third Empire, the dominant political entity of the region. Being in the centre of Tamriel, Cyrodiil borders many foreign nations, the closest politically being the Kingdom of Skyrim in Skyrim, which borders Cyrodiil to the north. To the west of Cyrodiil lies Hammerfell, to it's south Valenwood and Elsweyr, to it's east Morrowind, and to its southeast Black Marsh.
