Estre Errinorne, also known as the Veiled Queen, was the head of House Errinorne and the Lady of Skywatch during the reign of Ayrenn I Arana. Estre was married to Ayrenn's younger brother, Naemon Arana, and was the leader of the Veiled Heritance, a group that sought to see the Queen dead and Naemon on the Marble Throne.
Estre worked in secret during Ayrenn's royal progress to have her discretely assassinated, though she eventually revealed herself and began an open rebellion against the Queen's rule. Her rebellion was short-lived and she was eventually slain while occupying Firsthold.
Estre was the last member of House Errinorne, and her death marked the extinction of her ancient House.
Appearance and Character[]
Estre was known to possess an intimidating beauty, with golden hair, and striking light blue eyes and deep olive skin emblematic of her House's ancient Ayleid heritage. Poised, well-spoken, and dignified, Estre had an aura of authority around her and could draw others to her cause through little more than a conversation. She was also deeply ambitious, seen in her attempt to size the Marble Throne from Queen Ayrenn I in the name of her husband, Prince Naemon Arana. Estre was a master manipulator, able to deceive even the most discerning individuals and get them to do what she wanted. She successfully hid her considerable magical abilities from the public eye, deceiving even Queen Ayrenn herself into believing she had no magical talent whatsoever. Despite her cold demeanour, as lady of Skywatch she ruled over her commoners open-handedly, ensuring they were always well taken care of, revealing a softer and/or dutiful side to her.
Estre, like many in her family, possessed a darker side than what was visible to those around her. Despite being the last member of her House, she upheld her family's ancient tradition of secretly worshipping the Daedric Prince Mehrunes Dagon, whom she eventually petitioned for aid in her desperate rebellion against Ayrenn. Cavorting with daedra, murder, and manipulation were not above her if it served her goals, and her increasingly desperate pacts with dark masters in time led to the enslavement of her soul in Coldharbour by Molag Bal after her death. It is worth noting that even after her enslavement in Coldharbour, she steadfastly upheld the righteousness of her actions in life, displaying an unbreaking will even in the face of eternal torture and servitude.
History[]
Early Life[]
Estre was born in 2E 506 as the first and only child of Lord Andros Errinorne of Skywatch. King Hidellith II Arana sent the girl her weight in gold as a birthday gift, and encouraged Lord Andros to bring the girl to court in Alinor as soon as she was old enough to travel. She eventually left Skywatch for the capital as a young girl when her father was appointed to the king's high council, where she would spend the rest of her child and early adulthood. In Eldarhall she learned the ways of court life, intrigue, and the importance of tradition.
Sometime between 2E 528–537 Estre was appointed the castellan of Skywatch by her father, who bid her return to Calambar to assume direct rule over House Errinorne's lands in his absence. This served the purpose of giving Estre direct experience with ruling before assuming the lordship itself. The former castellan, Lord Elmar Ironeth, never forgave Lord Andros for sacking him in favour of his young daughter, even after twenty years of loyal service in the position. Estre attempted to placate him with other positions of high honour, but he refused all overtures and returned to his seat in Siltar, eventually being one of the first lords to declare for Queen Ayrenn I Arana against Estre during the Veiled Rebellion in 2E 582. Lord Elmar agitated against Estre throughout her rule of Skywatch, provoking scorn and coldness from Estre herself and fuelling his resentment of her.
