Firen Parnon was the wife and queen consort to King Viseriel I Arana of the Summerset Isles in the early First Era. She was originally the daughter of the petty king of Alinor prior to Aerel's Invasion, Naldien III Parnon, but became a ward of the Aranas after they conquered the city and deposed her House. She grew into a dutiful courtier and diligent queen, although according to King Viseriel I himself she never truly loved or opened herself to him.

Firen is considered an enigma by contemporary historians, a woman raised in a hostile world yet determined to survive. No known plots related to a Parnon restoration were ever discovered or connected to Firen, leading many to believe she begrudgingly accepted the fall of her family and worked within the bounds of the new order established by the Aranas. As a queen she was intelligent and even-handed, and as a mother she was caring but firm, imparting much of the wisdom she had come to learn over the years into her children.

Quotes about Firen[]

She was born a princess, but died a queen. By all rights her blood should have been spilled with that of her kin, but the gods had other plans. Instead, that blood now flows in the veins of every monarch since Elaerel I.

—writings of a sapiarch

She was my wife — my queen. She gave me everything I ever needed, except her heart. She kept that for herself, and for her father’s memory.
