Hammerfell is one of the nine regions of Tamriel, the largest of Nirn's known continents. All the area of Hammerfell is covered by the Kingdom of Hammerfell. The closest foreign nation to Hammerfell is the Third Empire, which, although weakened, surrounds the region on all fronts save for the coast which borders the Abecean Sea.
Geography[]
Hammerfell is the hottest region of Tamriel. The region is rocky, mountainous, arid and dry, and features the only desert on the continent. Hammerfell is bordered by the Abecean Sea to the west, the island of Stros Mkai to the south, Skyrim and Cyrodiil to the east, and High Rock and the Iliac Bay to the north. Stretched across the eastern border of Hammerfell is the mountain range known as the Dragontail Mountains, which separates Hammerfell from Skyrim to the northeast. There are two major passes, the X1 and the X2, which go through the Dragontail Mountains to the X3 of Skyrim. The X1 leads to X4, while the X2 leads to X5. Sentinel, controlled by the ruling House X, is located in northwestern Hammerfell along the coast of the Iliac Bay.
Most of Hammerfell south of the X Mountains is an arid wasteland. Eastern Hammerfell largely consists of dry, stony soil ill-suited for agriculture, while western Hammerfell contains vast deserts.
Hammerfell's rivers provide some fertile lands and even during a long summer there is enough rain and other supplies of water to keep Dorne habitable. Inland water is almost as valuable as gold, and wells are jealously guarded. The major Redguard river is the X in southeastern Hammerfell, which is formed by the X and the X near X. The trading port called Abah's Landing is located at the tip of the Hew's Bane Peninsula protruding into the Abecean Sea. The X in southern Hammerfell flows past the X to the Abecean Sea. The X has its source in the X Mountains of eastern Hammerfell and ends at X along the Abecean Sea. The X flows across the X1 in northeastern Hammerfell and into Skyrim. The X is another river in northern Hammerfell which flows near X to the Iliac Bay.
The western coast is some two hundred leagues long. It is ridden with cliffs, whirlpools, and hidden shoals, with few safe landings.
