House Caidan of Sunhold is the extinct House of the old and famed Summer Kings. Beginning with the mythical first king Elion the Godstouched, the Caidans ruled, through war and peace, down the generations until the last Caidan king, Ayred II Caidan, and his kin were killed at the Sun's Dusk in the Arana Invasion.
The kings of House Caidan initially ruled from their then-fortress home of Sunhold, claiming dominion over the surrounding lands, but over time used their claim of descending from divinity to claim supremacy over neighbouring kings and lords.
The kings of House Caidan wore crowns of gold, often elaborately engraved or shaped into floral or natural designs, an homage to the fertile Summerlands they called their own. Their blazon was a golden sun over a cream field, which some have claimed inspired the name for their seat of Sunhold, while others have claimed it was the other way around.

Customs[]
The old Summer Kings of House Caidan were fond of naming their male children Elion, particularly their firstborn heirs. This naming convention has complicated the research of sapiarchs into the earliest of the Summer Kings, as in the case of King Elion the Godstouched, who supposedly reigned for over five-hundred years, though some sapiarchs claim was in fact a succession of monarchs bearing the same name.
