House Lariel of Lariel was a minor Altmeri noble House from the Vafe, located in Auridon. The Lariel sigil is three roses, gold on green. Their words are "Our Roots Run Deep". Despite being a minor vassal of House Rilis, they held a reputation in the Vafe as being kind-hearted and warm towards outsiders. To some this gave the impression of naivete, but the Lariels were more than capable of defending their domain through both political and martial means.

It is unknown where the House originated from, but it is presumed that they trace their ancestry to the original Aldmeri settlers of Auridon who crossed the Eltheric Ocean with Torinaan I Rilis during the Exodus to Tamriel. Their domain was humble from its inception, constituting a part of northern Auridon's forests, various clearings populated by villages, as well as some border territory along the forest's edge. Throughout the House's long rule over Lariel their domain never grew or shrunk, and they generally ruled benevolently over their subjects.

The House eventually died out in the Third Era, when the last of the Lariel line, Lady Amerei Lariel, wed Riniya Carleth. Together the two women led a long, prosperous, and happy life, but unable to produce children House Lariel went extinct. Their lands and titles were passed to House Elme through Tanithil Elme, a cousin of Lady Amerei through Delasandra Lariel.

History[]

Aerel's Invasion[]

During the Arana invasion of the Summerset Archipelago in 1E 366 the Lariels remained faithful to their liege lords, House Rilis. Lord Rendalmo Lariel marched together with King Sandur III Rilis, and was among the lords that advised him to return northwards to fortify Firsthold for a siege, naively believing that they could defeat the Aranas and their gryphons with a well-planned siege defence. Instead, King Sandur bent the knee to Aerel Arana, and Lord Rendalmo followed the example of his liege.

Quotes[]

The Lariels left a mark on their subjects through unrelenting love and compassion. It's only fair that their line was ended by such love as well.
