Illusionism is a type of magic involving the mind, affecting both the caster and the target, the magic typically changes the target's perception of the world in a way that is not necessarily real. It is similar to Alteration magic in that it seeks to change the world around the caster so normal physical truths no longer hold, but while Alteration magic is bound by the laws of nature, illusionism is not.

Illusionism is currently believed to be part of the Illusion school of magic.

About[]

Illusionism has been widely used to confuse target(s) into believing a false reality. This includes charming an object or person to make others (including the person themselves) see them differently, which is sometimes called a 'glamour'. Skilled illusionists can even use the magic for more sinister purposes, including imposing their will upon the target by making them genuinely believe something that provokes a given response. Imprisoning someone within their own mind and possessing their body is another form of illusionism, which is exceptionally rare given its difficulty to cast and master.

Quotes[]

Illusion magic extends far beyond simple parlour tricks and mirages. Skilled practitioners exert power over the mind itself! Intellectually, I know I am not a bottle. But the spell fooled some primitive aspect of my psyche into believing I am. [...] The spell turned my knowledge of the natural sciences against me. Crafty, yes? A lesser intellect might have evaded the trap entirely. How's that for irony?
