Iron is a strong metal often used in tools and armament. It is the base metal of steel.
Usage[]
Iron can be used for mail, breastplates, helms, boots, swords, dirks, axes, mauls, cudgels, morningstars, staves, the tips of spears or lances, crossbow quarrels, and horseshoes. Naval rams and battering rams are often of iron. Iron manacles and shackles are used on captives. Prisoners can also be held in iron crow cages.
Shields, gates, and doors can be banded or studded with iron; the Iron Gate is one of the gates of King's Landing. Fortifications can have iron spikes on their walls or in dry moats. Steps can be made of iron.
Priests who are sworn to Zenithar, a god of the Faith, wear a small iron anvil around their neck as a pendant.

Deposits of iron ore are plentiful in northern and central Tamriel, though iron deposits can be found across the whole continent.
The Akaviri of Akavir were known to use special iron coins as their currency.
