Janos Torelle was the Lord of Sunhold and head of House Torelle during the reigns of King Daethen I, Anumaril I, and Viseriel I. As a boy he was betrothed to Princess Rhaethen Arana, the King's aunt, and she bore him three children: Anumaril, Elaith, and Haraleth. Janos was not considered to have a particularly brilliant mind, and would often succumb to his wife's directions. Nevertheless, he was a loyal man, both to his wife and his kings.
Janos participated in the Church Uprising of 1E 440, answering the call-to-arms of the Aranas to help put down High Aldarch Elwin III's rebellion. In practice, however, he spent much of the war in Sunhold after suffering a defeat in battle.
