Kingslaying is the act of killing one's own monarch, breaking their vows of allegiance to them. In Tamriel, kingslaying is condemned as an extremely vile act, especially when committed by someone sworn to protect them, as is the case with a monarch's personal guard.
It should not be confused with killing a monarch to which one has no allegiance, which is another form of regicide.
Killing a female monarch is on rare occassion called queenslaying, though most use kingslaying as a catch-all term, even for monarchs which are not specifically kings, such as emperors.
People Accused, Suspected, or Known to Have Committed Regicide
