Lariel is the seat of House Elme in the Vafe, a region of the Summerset Archipelago. The keep used to belong to House Lariel, from which it derives its name. Lariel is located a day and a half's ride east of Firsthold along the X road. Lariel sits within X forest and has a small river running alongside the keep. The village of Tunfeld is located near Lariel on the other side of the forest.
