Emperor Martin I, often called Martin I Septim, was the bastard son of Emperor Uriel VII Septim and the last emperor of the Septim dynasty. He was responsible for putting an end to the Oblivion Crisis of the late Third Era, and is remembered as a hero by the people of the Third Empire. At birth Martin was spirited away by Jauffre, the Grandmaster of the Blades. Martin was raised knowing nothing of his noble heritage, and eventually became a sworn priest of Akatosh in Kvatch.
Following the assassination of his father and half-brothers, he was considered the last person alive with Septim blood, and therefore the only true heir to the Ruby Throne. Blades agents were sent to find Martin and keep him safe during the Oblivion Crisis, during which Martin sacrificed himself to defeat Mehrunes Dagon and end the daedric invasion.

I still don't know if there is a divine plan, but I've come to realise that it doesn't matter. What matters is that we act; that we do what's right when confronted with evil.
—Martin I
