Pearls are gemstones created within shelled mollusks. Mother-of-pearl, or nacre, is an inner shell layer of the same material.

Altars in temples of the Faith can be inlaid with onyx, mother-of-pearl, and lapis lazuli.
Altars in chantries of the Church of Alaxon can be inlaid with mother-of-pearl and coral. Additionally, Altmer of the Summerset Archipelago are known to carve pearls to resemble high elven eyes, which can be used to replace lost eyes from battle, tourneys, or duels.
Those who can afford it may swallow pearls to help with indigestion. Due to their prohibitive cost they are sometimes cleaned and reused.
