The title of Summer King was held by the ancient Caidan kings, who ruled the Kingdom of Summer most of which is now the Summerlands and at one point included the Crownlands, and the March.
History[]
The first of the line was Elion Caidan, who according to legends built Sunhold and won the love of Allannia, the daughter of the sea god and the goddess of the wind, who had brought the Aldmer across the Eltheric Ocean during their exodus to Tamriel.
The Summer Kings established a powerful kingdom, and were able to extend their possessions to the west, capturing the modern-day Crownlands during the reign of Queen Arlayna VII Caidan. Eventually, however, King X Caidan was forced to cede these western possessions to western lords seeking their independence, as well as the King of the Rivers and Hills, which often sought to undermine Summerlander control of their western territories.
The last Summer King, Ayred II Caidan, fought against Aerel Arana during the Arana Conquest, eventually dying in battle during the Sun's Dusk against the Arana siblings and their gryphons.
