Tamriel location on the map of the known world
Tamriel is the largest of the known continents of Nirn. It lies to the west of Akavir, and to the north of Aldmeris and Pyandonea, stretching from the Azurian Sea in the northwest to the Padomaic Ocean in the east, and from the Sea of Ghosts in the northeast to the Eltheric Ocean in the southwest. Tamriel is populated by many different peoples and has a vast and varied geography.

The inherit differences among the many races of the continent aside, the people of Tamriel share many qualities with humans on Earth, although some noticeable differences exist. There is a propensity for families to share a common trait through the generations; for example, the Xs appear to have been X for thousands of years. Also, people in Tamriel are often larger than would be expected in a medieval civilisation: many are over six feet tall, with abnormally large men standing seven feet or taller.
