The War of the Shrine was a war waged in the early First Era by King Anumaril Arana of Abagarlas against King Cenedelin III Larethal of Delodiil. The war resulted in the de facto extermination of House Larethal, as well as a pyrrhic victory for Anumaril, who had his capitol razed during the war. The War was one of the many contributing factors to the Ayleid Empire's weakness during the Alessian Slave Rebellion some years later, as it greatly weakened two of the Empire's constituent kingdoms.
The war took place shortly before the Alessian Slave Rebellion during a time when there was no King of the Ayleids to ensure peace among the many lords and kings of the Ayleid Empire.
