The Yokudans were the precursor race of the modern Redguards, and as such are sometimes referred to as ancient Redguards. They were the native race of Men that inhabited the far western continent of Yokuda, which they shared with the lefthanded elves. The Yokudans were known for having a sprawling civilisation on the vast continent, though for an unknown reason they were forced to depart their lands during the Yokudan migration to Tamriel. It is unknown if Yokudans still remain on their continent.

The Yokudans, unlike most of their Redguard decendants, bore skin as dark as the night sky, and thick lips. The colour of their eyes were often as black as their skin, with other colours being a rarity. Their people were fond of gold and other precious metals, and would often adorn their bodies with them. This might have taken the form of piercings, or in more severe cases, golden braces were placed around the neck which over time elongated it.

Yokudans were fond of manipulating their bodies through many years of physical "sculpting", wherein guilded braces were placed on a given portion of the body to make it longer, larger, or any other shape. It was not uncommon for Yokudans to have golden neck braces that created unnaturally long necks, or head braces that would reshape the skull and make it larger. The braces used in the sculpting process would continue to be worn throughout the person's life.

The Yokudans were much less conservative in their dress than cultures on Tamriel, often donning elegant gowns that bore one or both breasts.

Culture[]

It is known that the Yokudans practised various religious ceremonies, one of which involved a woman wearing an elegant, yet simple, white dress. The purpose of such ceremony is unknown.
